Water on Mars Discovered by Phoenix Mission – Mars Phoenix Pics Confirm Water Ice – Popular Mechanics

In a discovery that could qualify as one of the most important in the history of space exploration, NASA’s Phoenix Mission may have confirmed the presence of water ice on the planet, Popular Mechanics has learned. The scheduling of a press conference for Thursday at 2 p.m. Eastern by NASA and the University of Arizona has raised hopes in the space community that scientists will announce the breakthrough. When pressed for details, a spokesperson for the agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory refused to elaborate beyond saying that the Phoenix team would unveil new findings from the ongoing robotic mission to Mars. If the rumor holds true, it would be the first direct confirmation of water ice beyond Earth.

This is quite cool. I remember buying this program and using it about 10 years ago. I’ve been playing with it a bit and it’s surprisingly powerful and easy to use.

OK, first I apologize for seemingly not being able to make up my mind, but I’m moving my blog back to Spaces. Though I’ve liked WordPress, I’ve been missing some of the features of Spaces. My Spaces site seems to be rendering well on the Mac and it’s very comfortable and straightforward for me to use. So the spaces url is now:

The kids from all over the world have been playing and practicing to get better.
Ours are playing video games.

Two points. I don’t think it matters whether the US dominates in international sports. Sport is about the effort of individuals in competition. Whether they come from the US, France, or China doesn’t matter. We appreciate the individual effort for the effort itself. My second thought is that there is no logical connection between video games and sport in the article, so I would normally just dismiss it for that reason alone. I just thought it was interesting to see two American winners in important international competitions in the same week that I saw this article.

Mike Nelson has a new site called RiffTrax. The page is pretty self explanatory; you download the commentary and play it at the same time the movie is running.

He’s charging $1.99 for the first one, which is Roadhouse. Unfortunately, I hate that movie and I don’t think I could even watch it with hilarious commentary. I can’t wait for the next one though.
